Lassi Etelätalo was sixth in the javelin World Cup final. Oliver Helander finished eighth. Grenada’s Anderson Peters threw more than 90 meters three times and was in his own class.

Reigning World Champion, Anderson Peters was at a wild level in the javelin final at the World Championships in Oregon. Peters raced over 90 meters three times, and won the second world championship of his career.

The Grenadian’s winning score was 90.54 in the last round. His record of 93.07 is from the Doha Diamond League in May.

The winner of the Olympic gold in Tokyo took silver in the tough final Neeraj Chopra. The Indian suffered from a strong headwind in his first throw, but after the wind calmed down, he got strong results. Chopra threw a best of 88.13 meters in the fourth round.

The bronze went to the Czech Republic Jakub Vadlejch, which fell just four inches short of Chopra. Vadlejc won silver at the Tokyo Olympics and the World Championships in London.

Highest among Finns Lassi Etelätalo, who raced 82.70 meters with the other. Etelätalo’s best throw of the season was enough instead of sixth.

Etelätalo is known to be a good prize thrower. Considering his level, he has achieved top results in the finals, such as four years ago in Doha, when Etelätalo was fourth.

With Oliver Helander there were difficulties instead. Helander’s only result was the throw of the third round, which carried 82.24. He was eighth in the final race.

Helander’s other throws were overstepped. Some of the throws were intentionally overstepped, as they only carried 75 meters.

On his fourth attempt, Helander threw a somersault at the end of his throw. However, he didn’t seem to hurt himself any worse in the situation, even though a bloodied knee was shown later on in the TV picture.

Helander was clearly not satisfied with his performance in the javelin final. The Finnish thrower rolled his head several times after his throws.
