With the coming of the month of Ramadan, the question of how we should eat in iftar and sahur is among the frequently researched topics. In this sense, Samsun Büyük Anadolu Hospitals Nutrition and Dietetics Specialist Dyt. Elanur Yılmaz Akay gave important information about what to pay attention to while feeding in Ramadan and warned.
“TAKE A BREAK WHILE EATING”
Dietician Elanur Akay, who said that the fast should be broken with water, said, “Eating should be continued with a warm soup that is not very boiling, and a break should be taken after the soup. After the break, the main dish that is not very oily can be vegetable meal, meat, chicken, fish, and it should be consumed with salad or yoghurt.
“TRY TO BE MOVING”
Akay, who suggested an action, said, “It can be consumed from Ramadan pita, which is indispensable in Ramadan. After eating, those who want to pay attention to their nutrition and weight, we recommend walking or tarawih prayer. Here we should try to put movement into our lives. Afterwards, a snack can be made between 21.00 and 21.30. fruit, yogurt, a dessert with milk, hazelnuts or walnuts can be consumed,” he said.
“LOTS OF WATER BETWEEN IFTAR AND SAHUR”
Emphasizing that heavy foods such as pies and rice should not be consumed during sahur, Akay said, “Sahur should be spent like breakfast. Sahur is full of eggs, cheese, unsalted olives, a portion of fruit, cereal or whole-wheat bread, instead of tea. Milk or ayran can be consumed. Between iftar and sahur, make sure to drink plenty of water. On this occasion, I wish everyone a happy Ramadan,” he said.
