Despite protests from large telecom companies such as Ericsson and Telia, the Norwegian Post and Telecommunications Authority, PTS is now forced to share classified information with Huawei.

It writes Today’s industry on Friday afternoon.

Chinese Huawei receives criticism

Telekomnyheterna was the first to report the news.

Huawei has previously been excluded from the Swedish 5G expansion.

The Chancellor of Justice, who represents Sweden, has asked PTS for secret information about the decision.

The decision has rested with the government, which has now approved the Chancellor of Justice’s demands. Swedish Ericsson has previously objected to the information being shared with Huawei.

The Chancellor of Justice represents Sweden, but…

This means that the data that PTS shares with the Chancellor of Justice will also be read by Huawei.

In the past, Huawei has received criticism because it was unclear what information the company shares with the Chinese government, which is a communist dictatorship.

Ericsson and Telia critical

Ericsson believes that “the protection of Ericsson’s trade secrets, intellectual property rights, pricing and technology information and other sensitive information is fundamental”.

Telia believes that they “assume that classified information is not disclosed.”

That is what the government says in its justification

But despite the criticism, it will now be possible for Huawei to access the information. This is how the government writes in the decision:

“The submission of information must be limited to what the Chancellor of Justice considers necessary to protect the state’s rights and to bring its case in the arbitration. In the case of disclosure, the Chancellor of Justice must make a reservation that the Counterparty’s representative may not use the information outside of the process or pass it on to Huawei or any third party”.
