A step was taken from Armenia that would anger Russia. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in his speech in the Armenian parliament, announced that he will ratify the Rome Statute, which accepts the decisions of the International Criminal Court, which has been the most discussed in recent days, as binding. Reminding that the Armenian government sent the Rome Statute to the parliament, Pashinyan said, “The government sent the Rome Statute to the parliament and the Rome Statute will be approved with the support of our MPs in line with my request. This is not related to Armenia-Russian relations, but is about the security of Armenia.” said.
IF PUTIN GOES TO ARMENIA, HE WILL BE ARRESTED
The Rome Statute, signed by Armenia on October 1, 1999, has been awaiting approval in the parliament since then. If the regulation is approved in Armenia, Russian President Vladimir Putin, for whom an arrest warrant has been issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC), may be arrested when he sets foot on Armenian territory.
ARREST ORDER FOR PUTIN
On March 17, the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Putin, alleging that he was responsible for war crimes committed in Ukraine. In its decision, the ICC had called for Putin to be arrested on suspicion of illegally deporting children and illegally transferring people from Ukrainian territory to Russia.
