Death penalty around the world Amnesty International notes an upsurge

In its annual report on capital punishment, released this Tuesday, May 16 for the last year, Amnesty International lists at least 883 death row inmates who lived their last day in 2022. This is the highest level of executions since 2017 , due in particular to the situation in certain countries in North Africa and especially in the Middle East. But the small number of justice systems that retain this practice in their arsenal continues to dwindle.
