Nine people have died and more than a hundred people have been injured in an explosion at a fireworks warehouse in Thailand, Thai authorities say.
The accident happened in the town of Sungai Kolok in the southern province of Narathiwat.
The explosion is believed to have been caused by welding during the construction work that was going on in the building.
Videos on social media show homes, businesses and vehicles destroyed in the explosion.
English-language Thai PBS reports that upwards of 500 houses have been damaged in the incident.
The fire should now be under control, according to the authorities.
Safety in Thailand’s construction sector is poor and fatal accidents are common.
