Daredevil’s Writer Made a Statement
Saladin Ahmed, the author of Daredevil, which has only published a few issues, said in a previous statement that a large part of the series will be about Matt Murdock’s struggle with his religious identity. “There are two opposing elements about Matt that I’m particularly interested in. First is the social reality that has become an integral part of the best Daredevil stories. “Even more than Peter Paker, Matt is Marvel’s most well-rounded ‘street level’ character, and being able to tell working-class street stories has always been hugely important to me as a writer,” he said.
He continued: “There is also a spiritual and metaphysical aspect, which has attracted me for a long time. Simply put, I spent a lot of time worrying that I was disappointing God. It’s pretty exciting to be able to get into the head and soul of one of several different superheroes doing the same thing. Ultimately, I hope this series will show that these different aspects of Daredevil’s world are in no way opposed to each other, but rather intertwined.”
There are currently four issues of the current series out. The fifth issue will begin to appear in comic book stores in January. Daredevil #6 is scheduled for release in February, with #7 scheduled for release on March 27.
