For years, major players in the film industry have been calling for more attention to stunt people. In other words, those people who offer their bodies for actions that are too dangerous for the stars. Jason Statham recently said he would like to see a separate Oscar category for stunt people.
A new documentary looks at the industry from a different perspective. Injured himself over 10 years ago Daniel Radcliffe’s stunt double difficult when filming the penultimate Harry Potter part. The film David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived tells his story, reports Variety.

David Holmes has worked as Daniel Radcliffe’s stunt double since the first Harry Potter film. Over the next 10 years, a special bond developed between the then 11-year-old actor and David Holmes. A terrible accident occurred while filming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 1: Holmes broke his neck during a stunt and was paralyzed from the chest down.

What is the documentary about Daniel Radcliffe’s stunt double about?
The documentary explores the story of David Holmes since the accident that changed his life. He should “personal material” show, “which was filmed in the last decade”. The film will provide behind-the-scenes insights into Holmes’ stunt work and his current life. Daniel Racliffe was also interviewed for the film, as were friends of Holmes, his family and former employees. This should result in a portrait that… “universal themes” reflected.

When will the documentary come to Germany?
David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived was produced by HBO and Sky. The start date for regions where the Warner streaming service Max is available was November 15th. In Germany the film will probably come to WOW or Sky, but there is no official information yet.
