Cycling: Jenny Rissveds on the goal before the Olympics: “Am among the best in the world when I get to it”

Focusing on the placement she wanted to achieve, or on a certain result meant great disappointment when it didn’t work out. Therefore, mountain bike star Jenny Rissveds has changed her mind and shifted the focus more to the performance itself.

– Focusing on getting everything out of the body and performing as well as possible on other fronts than just the result makes the whole thing a little more forgiving and helps me reach my goals. It will be much more fun to compete, I think, and I perform at the same level in terms of results as I did around 2016, she tells SVT Sport.

“Among the best in the world”

Around 2016 yes, like the Olympics in Rio. Then it was a gold medal for the Swede. And the fact that thinking has changed does not mean that results are no longer important.

– As always, I want to do my best and I know that I am among the best in the world when I achieve my best performance. I hope to do as well as possible at the Olympics, but also for the rest of the season, says Rissveds.

The World Cup and WC are also a high priority for Rissveds, but on the other hand, road cycling, which she tested on some during 2023, will have to wait.

– I won’t ride the road this year because I want to focus on mountain biking and have as much energy as possible for that. Then I’m very curious about road sports and can definitely see myself riding more in the future, but right now I’m focusing on mountain biking, concludes Rissveds.
