Cross-country skiing: Frida Karlsson may quit in three years: “That’s what I told myself”

During the ski holiday period April/May, she has been in good shape and has been to Norway, Portugal, Germany and a trip to Åre and its famous après ski.

– I have done exactly everything I wanted. It will be so much more motivating to enter the training year if you feel that you have done everything. That you received your dose, says Karlsson to Expressen.

She spends time with the idea of retiring in the spring of 2027 and thought she had communicated it already, which, however, no one heard before she told Expressen during an interview in Östersund.

“Not forever”

– I like having deadlines. That’s when I work best. It’s always been that way, ever since I went to school. It’s not enough for your own motivation. To feel that what I am doing is not forever, to make full use of it. That I will do everything I can in these three years, says Frida Karlsson.

Although the plan is to stop after the WC in Falun 2027 and the SC at home in Sollefteå, an arrangement that has been sought, later in the spring-winter nothing is set in stone. But the thought of retiring after Falun 2027 is certainly tickling.

– It motivates me so much to be able to write that story in Falun. But that can change, says Karlsson.

Next year there will be the WC in Trondheim, the 2026 Olympics in Cortina/Milano and the 2027 WC in Falun.
