Cross-country skiing: Edvin Anger with the first World Cup victory of his career

Watch Edvin Anger win the World Cup for the first time in his career in the player above.

Edvin Anger had two second places as the best in the World Cup.

But in the sprint in Les Rousses, the 22-year-old from Hedemora took his first individual World Cup victory.

He set an insane pace right from the start and led all the way to the race. Then he looked like he would be passed, but the Swede had an extra gear.

After a rock-hard sprint, Anger drew the longest straw and shouted his joy when he crossed the finish line ahead of the Norwegians Ansgar Evensen and Erik Valnes.

Watch Edvin Anger talk about his tactics in the final in the player below.

– The feeling when you stand at the top and have two Norwegians by your side, it’s nice, he says.

The maid to Kläbo

The biggest Norwegian stars were missing from the competition as they compete in the Norwegian championships on home soil. Johannes Hösflot Kläbo was not in any of the races.

– He probably doesn’t feel safe. I don’t know if he’s sick or what, but it’s not positive in any case, says Anger and continues:

– He had not had an easy match today. He usually wants to decide early and I find it hard to see that he would leave me today. The sprint sat well so it was almost a shame that he wasn’t there, says Anger.

This was Sweden’s first victory on the men’s side since 2021.

– To be a nation like Sweden, it is a long time. It was really about time. It’s great fun and it will give birth to more victories, says Anger.
