Cross-country skiing: Edvin Anger adjusts the WC plan after the success in the Tour de Ski: “Is among the strongest in Sweden’s squad”

Edvin Anger became the best Swede in the Tour de Ski, after, among other things, an impressive second place in a pursuit start – where he had a one-minute faster riding time than the reigning World Cup champion Harald Östberg Amundsen, and also broke the giant Johannes Hösflot Kläbo in the sprint.

Now he says that the success made him adjust his plans before the WC, where he – and most others – primarily saw sprinting as his chance.

– It’s still a sprint focus, but it’s going so very well at the distances so I have to change the plans a bit, he tells SVT Sport, and continues:

– I have to revise a little and add some extra distance. It’s Christmas to go fast in the distance, it’s extremely fun.

How do you see the World Cup and how should you post it?

– We will get closer to that when we know how the body feels. But if it’s in shape and I continue in the way I’m doing now at the end, where I’ve been stable at all distances all season, it’s just a matter of driving on.

– Then I get to learn lessons as I go, but if I’m among the strongest in Sweden’s squad, I see no reason to be left behind.

This weekend, Edvin Anger hopes to take his first individual podium in the sprint this season. Then he intends to adjust his tactics from earlier this season, which he describes as “holes in the head”. Hear him talk about it in the clip above.
