Cross-country skiing: Astrid Öyre Slind crushed the opposition in the Reistad run

Barely 10 kilometers into the race, at the first climb, Astrid Öyre Slind made an incredible move. Already after a couple of hundred meters she had left the rest of the riders behind and then she continued to extend the lead on the brutal and long hill.

Won by far

At the finish, after 50 kilometers of riding, she was 2.12.5 ahead of runner-up Victoria Carl, Germany, better known from the World Cup.

  • Andreas Nygaard wrote history in Ski Classics – most victorious ever

  • Öyre Slind has also had success in traditional cross-country skiing with a WC bronze from last year.

    “Been very pole out”

The victory in Ski Classics was her 15th in her career and third in the Reistad race. But it was the first victory this year.

    – Very lovely. That’s what I was going for. I was nervous before the start of not keeping up. There has been a lot of pole this year so it was nice to have a victory, says Öyre Slind.

Emilie Fleten was third, 3.26.5 after Öyre Slind.

On the men’s side, Johan Hoel took his first victory in the Ski Classics. He made history in the Reistadlöpet as the first rider to win without a mount.
