Covid acute respiratory infections continue to rise

The incidence rate of Covid cases is still increasing. Last week, from September 18 to 24, it reached 95 cases per 100,000 inhabitants according to the network. Sentinels, knowing that many cases of Covid are not detected in the absence of a major testing campaign. This corresponds to 62,905 people nationwide.

As for acute respiratory infections (ARI), the incidence rate reaches 242 per 100,000 inhabitants, a doubling of cases in less than a month. Among patients tested for AKI, 43% of 15-64 year olds were positive for Covid-19. This figure even reaches 64% among those over 65.

The virus returns in new forms with the barbaric names of EG.5.1, nicknamed Eris, and BA.2.8.6, also called “Pirola”. Variations for the moment under close surveillance, the risk being of seeing these variants resist vaccines.

These figures are all the more worrying as France is currently experiencing a triple epidemic. In addition to the marked return of Covid, the country is preparing for an explosion in cases of flu and bronchiolitis.
