Outbreak declared at retirement residence

There were no new COVID-19 deaths or outbreaks reported in Chatham-Kent on Wednesday, public health officials reported.

Public health confirmed 27 new cases since Monday’s update, with a seven-day rolling average of 16 new cases.

Four outbreaks remained ongoing. Twelve patients were in hospital with the virus, including four primarily being treated for COVID-19 and one in intensive care.

Provincially, there were 814 new cases of COVID-19 reported Wednesday, taking into account testing capacity throughout Ontario.

A total of 778 people across the province were in hospital with the virus, including 165 in intensive care.
