County council supports proposed new Waterford subdivision

Norfolk County Council has passed a zoning bylaw amendment that will allow a 68-home subdivision in Wateford to move ahead.

Councilors voted unanimously in favor of the amendment at a Wednesday meeting. The subdivision is slated for Charles Street and Washington Street in the western part of Waterford.

Under the proposal, 23 detached homes will be built on the property along with 15 bungalows and 30 two-storey townhomes.

The resolution passed by council calls for the developer to register a development agreement covering a range of issues including water and storm water capacity, fencing, drainage, fire protection and installation of sidewalks.

In addition, county staff and representatives of the developer will work on a draft plan of the subdivision, which will then be reviewed by councilors at meeting in March.

County planning staff recommended approval of the zoning bylaw amendment, noting the development will have a positive impact on assessment growth and tax revenues.

Plans call for construction of the new subdivision to begin in 2023.
