The heavy snowfall and wind along the coast in Västerbotten will continue on Tuesday. Parts of Uppsala and Stockholm counties also receive heavy snowfall.

– Where we expect the greatest consequences is in Västerbotten’s coastal region, where the combination of strong wind and a lot of snow causes us to issue an orange warning, says Erik Höjgård-Olsen, meteorologist at SMHI.

During the day, 15 to 30 centimeters of snow may fall and in the area there will be very limited access on roads, especially in open landscapes that have not had time to clear snow. At sea in the north the quark blows to a storm in the villages and some of the villages can reach the coast.

– Along the entire Norrland coast, from the Piteå tract down to Gävle, there will also be heavy snowfall which should not be underestimated, says Erik Höjgård-Olsen.

The snowfall is expected to increase during the afternoon and evening. It also continues during Wednesday, but then decreases somewhat.

Anyone who is in the Lapland mountains should be careful due to strong winds and unfamiliar visitors are advised not to go out on the mountains. It can be difficult to move and there is a risk of frostbite.
