Consumption uncertainties affect spending attitudes make up trips

The difficult economic and international situationcharacterized by the collapse of the stock exchanges, by the restrictive policies of central banks, by an increase in inflation and a fall in the purchasing power of families, by the protracted war in Ukraine, with the well-known repercussions on energy supplies and prices, not they failed to reflect on the consumption attitudes of Italians.

Today only 3 out of 10 Italians they believe it is a good time to shop important for their family and, in a 3-month perspective, the average propensity to buy registered at the end of May by the Findomestic Observatory, remains stationary on levels pre-Covid. There is no lack of positive ideas, such as for mobility and travel, the home sector is slowing down, which had appeared very strong in the Covid period.

Mobility puts you in gear

The purchase intentions of used cars, today a valuable alternative to the new ones for those who want a car ready for delivery, they fly at + 15%. Positive also new cars on the incentive effect: + 6.9% for the segment, + 13.6% for the electrified segment. Also motorcycles and scooter (+ 10.6%) e E-Bike (+ 14.6%). The only negative exception in the vehicle sector was electric scooters: -8%.

Technology is back

After the decline of the previous month, purchase intentions for technological objects recover: Tablet (+ 4.8%), smartphone (+ 1.7%) e PC (+ 11.8%). Negative picture, however, for the home area with the exception of small appliances (+ 6.1%). Contained push-ups for condensing boilers and biomass (-0.4%) e large appliances (-0.6%).

More sensitive decline for intentions to buy furniture (-4.6%) which, however, remain at decidedly high levels. On the negative side, with more pronounced rates of decrease, too TV (-4.8%), heat pumps (-7.2%), thermal and photovoltaic systems (-9.1%), thermal insulation (-11%) e fixtures (-11.6%).

The brick pulls less

The propensity to ad declined for the second consecutive month buy house (-11.9%) oa renovate it (-8.5%). Lastly, data in chiaroscuro for the leisure area: -5.5% for sports equipment, -9.4% for do-it-yourselfers.

On the other hand, the positive trend of travel continues (+ 4.5%), benefiting from the end of the health emergency and the approaching summer holidays, as well as a great desire to escape, albeit for a few days, from a context in whose anxieties and worries have not given respite for two and a half years now.
