Community Living Chatham Kent party grows thanks to new venue

A party held last year to give the folks from Community Living Chatham-Kent a day out grew this year thanks to the Dover Rod and Gun Club.

Community Living board member Leon Leclair said he organized an event last year at his Dover Township farm just to give people served by the agency a day out.

“It was awesome,” he said, adding many people hadn’t seen each other in years.

“People were high-fiving each other,” he said.

Joe Pinsonneault, vice-president of the Dover Rod and Gun Club, volunteered at last year’s party and offered the use of the club’s large facility on Heron Line to host the event held Thursday.

The club also stepped up to supply hot dogs, French fries, popcorn and pop for the guests. Buis Beef donated a wagon for wagon rides and there was music and face-painting.

“It’s really nice to get them out of the city and into the country and see some wildlife while going for a wagon ride,” Pinsonneault said.
