College students can receive up to 3000 euros with their

Some high school students can benefit from a merit scholarship paid according to their result at the college certificate. What there is to know…

The patent merit scholarship is a bonus paid, as its name suggests, based on a student’s results, for a maximum of 3 years. It can go up to 1000 euros per year, or 3000 in total! Who is affected exactly? Under what conditions? Are there any steps to take? What is its amount? Or can we lose it? Many questions revolve around obtaining this precious help. Here is the key information you need to know.

Am I concerned by obtaining the patent merit scholarship ?

To be included in the list of candidates for the merit scholarship, the following prerequisites must be met:

  • To be a scholarship holder, in other words to be eligible for a scholarship at the entrance to high school
  • Have obtained the mention “good” or “very good” at the college certificate
  • Make a commitment (in writing) to continue their education until the baccalaureate and to obtain good academic results.

Are there any steps to take?

Not particularly, neither for a student nor for his parents: the high school scholarship file is sufficient to obtain the merit scholarship. The latter is awarded to the scholarship student by the rector of the academy, after examining his results at the DNB.

Good to know: it is however necessary to write a letter in the form of a sworn statement. If a student is concerned by this scholarship, he undertakes in this letter to continue his education until the baccalaureate and to promote the obtaining of good academic results. This letter has the value of a letter of commitment and must be given to his school, which will keep it.

What is the amount of the patent merit scholarship in 2023?

In 2023, the amount of the patent merit scholarship, which is paid annually, can vary from 400 euros to 1000 euros. The amount that the student may be required to receive as a high school student is based on his scholarship level (in connection with his high school scholarship).

It should be noted that the merit scholarship is received at the same time as the high school scholarship, i.e. in three installments. It is cumulative with this grant. Under certain conditions, the student can also receive both the merit bonus and the ARS (back-to-school allowance), the boarding school bonus, aid for students enrolled in the vocational path (equipment bonus), the high school student social fund or aid for the school canteen, depending on Servicepublic.fr.

Can you lose your merit scholarship?

The answer is yes, in the event that the results or attendance in class do not seem satisfactory with regard to the class councils. The idea is that the student’s efforts remain relevant until the end of their high school education.
