Cinema: “EO”, the tribulations of a donkey in Europe

Alternately pampered or mistreated, tossed from owner to owner, EO crosses a drifting Europe, helpless witness to a brutal humanity, with itself and the exploited animals.

It is one of the most audacious films of the last Cannes Film Festival, from which it left with the jury prize, and is being released this week in cinemas. It is EO, or “hi-han”, like the braying of the donkey. And it is precisely a donkey the main character of this poetic work, signed by a director of the Polish new wave, Jerzy Skolimovski, whose age, 84 years, has not started the desire for aesthetic research.
