Pragmatism more than conviction: the support given by Christiane Taubira to Jean Luc Mélenchon is only as a “dam to the far right”. The former Keeper of the Seals will therefore vote out of necessity when, according to her, the arrival of Marine Le Pen in power is no longer a “delusional idea”. And Christiane Taubira to regret that the gathering of the left that she wanted to embody could not be realized.

One more vote therefore for Jean-Luc Mélenchon, but not a blank check.
The camp of the candidate of the Popular Union is however largely satisfied with it. “This is very positive news”, judges a close friend of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who sees this call as more proof of a dynamic likely to take his candidate to the second round. Jean-Luc Mélenchon who soberly commented on the support of Christiane Taubira by thanking her ” for his call to build a second tower worthy of our history “.
No comment, however, from Yannick Jadot. The camp of the environmental candidate had however long hoped to be able to count on the rallying of Christiane Taubira. But the principle of the useful vote on the left has once again taken precedence.
