In recent days, hospital corridors in many cities of the country, especially in Istanbul, have begun to fill with people complaining of upper respiratory tract diseases. Physicians drew attention to the increase, saying that almost all of the citizens waiting for hours in long queues in hospitals complained of musculoskeletal pain, weakness, nasal congestion, persistent cough and intermittent sore throat.

Istanbul Medical Chamber Board Member Dr. Saffet Ercan said, “Is the epidemic Covid or flu infection or something else? For this reason, Covid tests, which are not yet done, definitely need to be done again.”

Experts stated in their statement on social media that child cases have increased especially this week. Dr. Tutku Taşkınoğlu said, “This week, RSV has increased greatly, especially in children. Influenza A H1N1 is in circulation, but it is not common. Covid is around 10-15 percent… Coxsackie accompanies Rhinovirus.”
Infectious Diseases specialist Esin Davutoğlu Şenol said, “Children are miserable, a triple epidemic (RSV, COVID, Flu). One ends and the other begins. Start washing hands and if they haven’t, be sure to get flu vaccines. After 2-3 weeks, a similar epidemic begins in adults. For now, it is a double epidemic in adults.” ” he explained.
