Child 4 suffers life threatening injuries in crash near Courtland

A 4-year-old child suffered life-threatening injuries in a single-vehicle crash in the Courtland area on Tuesday morning.

Police say the vehicle was traveling on 1st Concession Road STR when it left the road and struck a tree at about 9 am

Five people were in the vehicle at the time of the crash, said Norfolk OPP Const. Ed Sanchuck.

The four-year-old suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital. Two adults and two infants were also taken to hospital as a precautionary measure, Sanchuk said.

The road was closed between Byerlay Side Road and Highway 59 for several hours for investigation. It has since reopened, said police.
