The passenger in the car the defendant was driving was killed in the accident. The occupants of the oncoming car sustained serious injuries. A woman suffered life-threatening injuries.
Witness statements state that the accused man was driving well over the current speed limit at the time. The man has not been able to answer why he was driving too fast. He lost control of the car when he was about to swerve for a hail shot.
The man denies any wrongdoing.
