Cautious optimism among self-employed people

The percentage of entrepreneurs who believe in a positive development of their business during the next three months decreases slightly, from 25 percent to 24 percent. At the same time, the percentage of business owners who believe in a negative development remains at 16 percent for the fourth month in a row.

“Despite a marginal decline in the outlook for the future, there are no clear signs that the recession has affected the entrepreneurs and a cautious optimism still prevails,” says Américo Fernández, private economist at SEB, in a press release.

The month’s decline can, he believes, be explained by holiday periods and the fact that the business owners built up buffers to parry possible interest rate increases during the autumn.
