Daniel Craig said goodbye to his longtime role as James Bond last year. Now he finally tears himself away from the secret agent. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (formerly known as Knives Out 2) is his first major film following the epic Bond finale. Now there is finally a teaser trailer for it.
In the 2019 release Knives Out, Craig embodied the idiosyncratic for the first time Private detective Benoit Blanc. Back then, probably few people thought that this was Craig’s next film series. After the cinema success of the first part, however, Netflix secured two sequels from director Rian Johnson.

Netflix is said to have shelled out $468 million (via Variety) for the sequels. Knives Out 2 and Knives Out 3 are two of the most expensive projects in the history of the streaming service. Craig alone is said to be getting paid more than $100 million for his return as Benoit Blanc.

Judging from the teaser trailer for Glass Onion, the investment seems to have paid off. Johnson has one remarkable cast gathered and visibly enjoyed the new setting. After the predecessor played mostly in a large family house, Craig’s private detective ends up in Greece this time.

When does Glass Onion start on Netflix?
The fact that Netflix has great faith in Glass Onion is reflected in the choice of launch date: the Knives Out sequel will be released on December 23, 2022. This slot was reserved for last year’s Don’t Look Up, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, which has gone on to become one of the streaming provider’s highest-grossing films.
