The study support for adjustment was introduced by the social democratic government, and is linked to the so-called las agreement between employers and trade unions.
Those who have worked for at least eight years can receive at least 80 percent of their salary, in the form of loans and grants, for 44 weeks of study.
But only if the studies are considered to strengthen the applicant’s position on the labor market. Anyone who wants to work in an industry where there is a shortage of personnel is therefore in a good position.
The support has become popular. CSN expected to receive just over 5,000 applications by 2023. But around 20,000 have come in.
Just over 4,600 applications have been reviewed so far. However, only slightly more than 400 have been accepted.
Education in care and social care, in school and preschool, and in IT are most common in the applications that are granted.
Prospective police officers and engineers are also quite common among the successful applicants. Support is also given to people who want to become, for example, truck drivers, process operators, public procurers, supervisors on green areas, farriers or archipelago captains.
But the test is individual, and is based on what the applicant is working with in the initial situation. Even among the rejected applications are people who want to become teachers, nurses or police officers.
