British Foreign Secretary David Cameron is calling on Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to use his influence to get Iran to act on Iran-backed Houthi attacks in the Red Sea.

Cameron made the call to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during a meeting on the sidelines of the annual security conference in Munich, according to a statement from the British Foreign Office.

US Foreign Minister Antony Blinken also met his Chinese colleague. Blinken took the opportunity to express concern about China’s attitude to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, as well as Chinese support for the Russian war industry, according to US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller.

Wang, in turn, called on the United States to “lift illegal unilateral sanctions against Chinese companies and individuals,” according to a statement from China’s foreign ministry.
