Calle Halfvarsson’s stunning answer to the difficult question about the future: “Then you’ll see me in a…”

Calle Halfvarsson is charging for another ski season.
His 15th overall at the World Cup and perhaps his last.
Now the Swedish ski profile gives a stunning answer to the difficult question of the future.

He hesitated for a long time but finally decided to continue his career for another season. Calle Halfvarsson gained new confidence and a new spark in his career after last season’s fine results.

Halfvarsson’s decision

The 34-year-old was incredibly close to winning the very first individual medal of his career during the World Ski Championships in Planica earlier this year. On the last day of the world championships, Halfvarsson was in the last of the men’s five-mile race and had a fierce sprint duel against his younger teammate William Poromaa.

The veteran finally had to give up and collected another annoying fourth place. But it also sparked a great desire for revenge in Calle to extend his career and now he is getting ready for his 15th season at the World Cup.

Calle’s nice answer

Unfortunately, there is a championship-free year ahead, so the dream of an individual medal must continue to linger. But the big question is how long Calle Halfvarsson can keep going.

At the same time as he thinks about the end, his teammates dream of the possible Winter Olympics in 2030 that Sweden and the SOK (Swedish Olympic Committee) are trying to bring to Swedish soil. WC bronze hero Poromaa sees it as a dream with the Olympics on home soil and he would then be 29 years old.
– It would be incredible if that were to happen. Above all, it would be fun as an athlete, not many people get to be part of it. I think that we in Sweden would benefit a lot from that. It is the biggest thing that can happen in the sports world, he says in an interview with Radiosporten.

Halfvarsson is also asked the same question and realizes that he will be 41 years old when the time comes for the Winter Olympics in 2030. Then he answers in the most clever way about the future.
– There is probably a greater chance that you will see me driving a truck or something like that then, haha. It will probably be a role outside of skiing then, he says with a laugh.
