Bublik dresses as an executioner on Wawrinkas lap

Alexander Bublik defeated Stanislas Wawrinka in the first round in three sets (3-6, 7-5 and 6-2) in which it was the return of the Swiss to a great tournament of the circuit.

The one born in Lausanne thirteen months later he returned to compete in a big event -if the Marbella ATP Challenger is not counted the last week of March- after undergoing surgery twice in 2021.

The tournament itself gave him an invitation to play in it. The Swiss has 16 trophies, one of them in this same club. It was in 2014 when he beat his compatriot Roger Federer.

The game itself lasted more than two hours (2:08) in which the lack of competition was noted. He began by winning the first set, while the second went to Bublik. Already in the third the Swiss’s lack of strength became visible and he relented with a margin of four games. The Kazakh will face the winner of the Carreño-Baez.
