Bye damage mods and hello weapon buffs!

What are the changes? Bungie has put out a huge list of changes that address three things:

  • Weapon archetypes
  • Exotic weapons
  • Perks
  • When it comes to weapon archetypes, five mods were examined that players can put into almost any weapon: Boss spec, Taken spec, Minor spec, Major spec, and Master Hardfall spec.

All of these mods provide damage bonuses to the equipped legendary weapons and were essential in PvE. However, with “The Final Shape” they are completely removed. You won’t be able to equip them anymore, but you don’t need to. Bungie plans to increase the base damage of many Legendary weapon archetypes. For details, open our box:

    All weapon archetype adjustments

  • Increased PvE base damage against all fighters.
  • Pulse Rifles: 20%
  • Exceptions: Graviton Lance and Revision Zero Heavy Volley mode. (Both already have a PvE damage buff.)
  • Pellet Shotguns: 10%
  • Exceptions: Legend of Acrius, Tractor Cannon, Conditional Finality and The Fourth Horseman. (These weapons already work as intended.)
  • Bullet Shotguns: 9%
  • Fusion Rifles: 7%
  • Exceptions: One thousand votes. (This weapon only received a buff.)
  • Sniper Rifles: 7%
  • Exceptions: Honed Blade shots from Izanagi’s Burden and Storm from Cloudstrike. (Both perform well.)
  • Glaive Projectiles: 7%
  • Linear Fusion Rifles: 5%
  • Increased damage against weaker enemies (red bars) – stacks with PvE base damage increase.
  • Pistols, Trace Rifles, Scout Rifles and Bows: 20%
  • Automatic Rifles and Pulse Rifles: 15%
  • For Pulse Rifles, this is in addition to the buff mentioned above, and Graviton Lance and Revision Zero’s Heavy Volley mode are also included.
  • I.e. Pulse Rifles deal 1.2 x 1.15 = 38% more damage against red bars.
  • Submachine guns: 10%
  • Handguns: 5%
  • Increased damage against more powerful enemies (orange bars).
  • Damage has been increased across the board, including in PvP.
  • Machine guns: 7%
  • Swords: 7%
  • Explosion damage reduced by 10%. (Exos only)
  • Sunshot
  • Trinity Ghoul
  • Polaris lance
  • Graviton lance
  • Weapons with kinetic damage no longer cause bonus damage against bosses; Damage against other fighter levels remains unchanged.
  • As an example, a Kinetic Sniper Rifle and a Stasis Sniper Rifle from the same subfamily deal the same damage against a boss.
  • While the damage is generally increased, kinetic weapons should also not be able to do any more bonus damage when fighting bosses than their elemental variants. You can find more details about further weapon adjustments in the official TWiD from Bungie (via bungie.net).

    Exotic weapon adjustments

What does Bungie plan to do with Exotics? Destiny 2 will also adapt its exotic weapons to “The Final Shape”. Many were improved, but some of them were far too powerful and were therefore nerfed. We have packed all the buffs, nerfs and adjustments into separate boxes that you can unfold:
