The attack came just hours after a British oil tanker was hit by fire from a similar robot on Friday evening, writes AFP. On Saturday, the crew was still struggling to put out a fire that broke out in one of the containers on the ship. No one was injured.
The US warship USS Carney was also fired on Friday, but repelled the attack.
“The robot was successfully shot down by the USS Carney. There are no reports of casualties or damage,” writes Centcom.
Recently, the Houthi movement has carried out numerous attacks on ships passing through the strait connecting the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea, in retaliation for the Gaza war.
