Bouygues Telecom is renewing its fixed 5G offer with a latest generation box, complete, easy to use and Wi-Fi 6 compatible. An interesting solution for accessing very high speed when you are not entitled to fiber.

It’s not just fiber optics for very high-speed Internet access: you can also use the mobile network… including landlines, at home! After 4G, which already offers a very good connection speed compared to ADSL, it is logically the turn of 5G to invite itself into residential boxes. And the solutions are beginning to multiply, even the offer remains much more limited than with traditional techniques. Thus, this Wednesday 1er February 2023, Bouygues – which already had a model in its catalog – has just announced the release of a new fixed 5G box with several advantages – and now replacing the model released in June 2022.

New Bouygues 5G box: eco-friendly and without data limit

Taking advantage of a redesigned design for vertical placement, the new Bouygues 5G box claims an environmentally responsible design – like other recent boxes. Fanless, thanks to a passive cooling system – therefore more economical –, it is thus made of 95% recycled plastic, without any halogenated substance, its texture not very sensitive to scratches and its black color reducing the signs of aging. On a technical level, this position in tower mode facilitates the diffusion of waves inside the fireplace. A good good, especially since the 5G box is compatible with Wi-Fi 6, the penultimate generation, which offers very high speeds and excellent coverage – without the additional 6 GHz band introduced with Wi-Fi 6E . In addition, it has five Ethernet ports and a USB port to connect all kinds of devices (computers, TV box, printer, etc.). In short, it is a real Internet box, sufficient for home and family use.

In terms of speeds, Bouygues promises “up to 1.1 Gbit/s” going down, which is excellent – and comparable to fiber _ but only 25 Mbit/s going up, which is a bit disappointing, especially for those who need to send large files. The good news is that unlike many similar offers which are limited, the envelope of usable data per month is unlimited, as with classic fixed offers. A real plus!

The new 5G box Bouygues is available now in a special formula, without commitment, at the price of 40.99 euros per month: an offer including the B.tv2 application – to watch TV on smartphone and tablet, with 70 channels in live and 25 in replay. Be careful though: to take advantage of it, you must of course be near a 5G Bouygues antenna! An eligibility test is also offered from the outset on operator’s website before any subscription.
