Bouygues Telecom becomes the first operator to offer Wi Fi 6E

Unveiled more than two years ago, the BBox Fiber Wi-Fi 6 from Bouygues Telecom is already undergoing a transformation. Bbox-mag reports the case of a user who subscribed to the high-end Bbox Ultym offer and who received a new Wi-Fi 6E version of the box. But its distribution would be random. The box would be substantially identical to that of 2020, except for the components dedicated to Wi-Fi.

No official launch yet

We have contacted Bouygues Telecom, which does not wish to comment on this novelty for the moment. He is probably waiting for the return of these first start-ups which have warm-up value before communicating on the occasion of an official launch.

Bouygues Telecom therefore becomes the first operator to adopt the latest evolution of the Wi-Fi 6E standard in France. Compared to Wi-Fi 6, it notably makes it possible to use an additional frequency band, 6 GHz, for more speed and capacity. It will of course be necessary to have compatible terminals to benefit from it, in addition to the box. This is particularly the case for the Samsung Galaxy S21 and S22 smartphones, but the list of suitable devices is still tenuous. Apple, for example, has not yet moved to Wi-Fi 6E.
