Body of woman 54 recovered after drowning at Port Burwell

The body of a Vienna woman was recovered from the waters of Big Otter Marina Friday evening after going missing earlier in the day.

Cindy Stolk, 54, went missing at the Port Burwell marina, earlier Friday after her belongings were found at the end of the dock at which her boat was moored.

“She fell of the dock and nobody was around,” said Daryl Probber, owner of the marina. “They found a sandal floating in the river.”

Elgin firefighters located Stolk’s body around 6:40 pm, Elgin OPP said in a statement. The investigation continues, OPP said.

A post mortem will be done at a hospital in London,

Probber called the incident “very tragic.”

“Our thoughts are with her family,” he said.

Big Otter Creek flows into the north shore of Lake Erie.
