Black mold and poorly prepared food at a restaurant in Malmö: “Risk for…”

The Environment Agency carried out a food inspection of a restaurant in the Malmö area. It was an ordinary check that the environmental administration does regularly.

This time, the Environment Agency’s manager came unannounced to check that the restaurant complied with the Food Act.

During the inspection, a lot of deviations were found. Among other things, it was found that the restaurant had an insufficient temperature for keeping warm.

The restaurant served a buffet where the internal temperature of the various dishes was between 38 and 45 degrees. If the food is at this temperature, there are risks in serving the food.

According to Sweden’s Municipalities and Regions food served must be at least 60 degrees to prevent the growth of bacteria.

In the Environment Agency’s report, which News24 taken note of, it says that there is a “Risk of unsafe food being served.”.

In addition to the restaurant having the wrong temperature on the buffet, they also had black mold in the dish room, which poses a risk of contamination.

It was decided that the Environmental Administration’s department for food control should carry out a follow-up check to ensure that the restaurant has made a change.
