Biden plans to propose establishing a port in the Gaza

According to sources, Biden plans to propose the issue in his State of the Nation address next night. The EU is also considering maritime assistance.

According to official sources who spoke to the AP news agency anonymously, the US president Joe Biden will propose in his State of the Nation address next night that a temporary port be established in the Gaza Strip to deliver aid shipments.

Officials did not elaborate on how the port is to be built. However, according to the sources, the operation will not require the presence of US soldiers in Gaza.

Nowadays, there is nothing but a fishing port in Gaza. Israel has maintained a maritime blockade of the strip since 2007.

Reuters has previously told the president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen to travel to Cyprus on Friday to negotiate the establishment of a humanitarian corridor between the island nation and the Gaza Strip.

The situation in Gaza is very difficult. Because of Israel’s attack, only a small part of the necessary food and medicine is available in the area. The UN warns of a widespread famine and children are already dying of hunger. A video with shocking images on the subject here.
