She has had to say goodbye to her father Börje Salming.
It has since been a tough year for Bianca Salming.
Today she turns 25 and looks forward after the great sadness.
It has almost been exactly one year since the tragic day when Swedish sports lost one of its biggest icons. Börje Salming fell asleep and a great national mourning spread in Sweden where many shared their fondest memories of a man who influenced so many during his lifetime.

For the immediate family, it was a son, a brother, a husband and a father who disappeared from their lives. The terrible disease ALS deprived Bianca Salming on his great role model in life.

The last year has been incredibly tough for Bianca and she found the strength in training and to continue her career as an athletics athlete.
– I just continued, to survive. And then I was probably in shock for a while and just drove on. But I also believe that in such a situation you should keep something in your life that you know makes you feel good, and in my case training is such a thing, the newly 25-year-old tells the news agency TT.

During the last time with dad, Bianca Salming gained a strong insight during the hospital visits. She was washed over by a strong feeling that she must have many children, preferably five.
– I want a big family because I never want to feel alone. I like being surrounded by family and friends, not least I felt that in the hospital. There were so many others who didn’t get visitors, it seemed. How horrible it must have been for them. And so important to have those closest to you in such a situation, she admits today.

Just like her late father, Bianca is also very current with her own TV series. It is called “Salminggenen”, shown on SVT and recorded before Börje Salming became ill.
– All at the same time. I felt for a long time that I did not want to participate at all, but I have taken help from family and others so now I have landed in it. I think it can be good, she says in the interview.

In connection with her 25th birthday today, she is now looking ahead to the coming years, the new investment in high jumping and the relationship with her boyfriend Tobias Lindberg. She is not afraid to turn 25 and step into a new phase of life.
– I don’t care about age. I think every year that this year will be the best year of my life, she tells the news agency and reveals how she will celebrate her birthday.
– I think it will be a quiet family dinner and then a night out with friends.
