Best Loadout – The strongest build for solo players

Helldivers 2 has a considerable selection of weapons and equipment. But what is the best loadout with which you can also survive solo?

In Helldivers 2 you can put together your own loadout from various weapons and tactical equipment. You have the opportunity to make strategic decisions and discuss with your fellow players what you still need.

Alternatively, you can also choose equipment that allows you to survive solo against a wide variety of opponents at high levels of difficulty. We therefore want to show you the best build for solo players.

The selection of weapons and tactical equipment is a personal choice of the author. Do you prefer a different loadout? Feel free to write it in the comments and discuss with the community.

Helldivers 2: The best loadout for solo players

The loadout of the solo build combines tactical equipment that strengthens you defensively with the greatest possible firepower. To do this, you should choose the following equipment:

Primary weapon: SG-225 Breaker (Shotgun)

  • The Breaker is by far the best weapon in the game. It has a high, fully automatic rate of fire, good damage and, despite the spread, a long range (for a shotgun).
  • If you are overrun by hordes of enemies solo, the Breaker is ideal for quickly thinning out the crowds and giving you some breathing room.
  • The Breaker is also the undisputed number one in our tier list of the best weapons.

    Secondary weapon: P-19 Redeemer (pistol)

  • Has a fully automatic fire mode and high rate of fire (significant upgrade to the P-2 Peacemaker)
  • Since the Redeemer shoots fully automatically and with a high rate of fire, it’s good when you’ve run out of shots, switch to your secondary weapon and need to quickly eliminate a few adds
  • Reloads quickly, so you don’t suddenly find yourself without ammunition in tricky situations
  • Can also be played semi-automatically if you want to conserve ammunition
  • Since the revolver is only available via the Premium Battle Pass, it loses direct comparison to the Redeemer, even if it is also a good choice against the robots
  • Backpack: Shield Generator Backpack – Unlockable at level 20

  • Protect yourself not only from incoming projectiles from the robots, but also from melee attacks
  • In addition, you can no longer be knocked over by strikers or other enemies with the shield
  • Likewise, you will no longer be slowed down by the acid from the terminoids or other effects while running
  • Support weapon: Railgun – Unlockable at level 20

  • The railgun breaks through all of your opponents’ armor
  • Can destroy a striker’s leg armor with 2 shots and end his onslaught with shots to his face
  • Can even eliminate an Acid Titan with enough shots to the face
  • Has no cooldown and can be replenished with ammo supplies
  • Can also be used over longer distances
  • Team kills are almost impossible with the railgun because you shoot precisely
  • Can be switched to an overcharged fire mode that deals even more damage, but can blast you to your death if you’re careless
  • The railgun and shield generator backpack are almost a must-have (especially for solo players). You then have two slots left for tactical equipment. You should choose these depending on the mission and level of difficulty, as what you need most can vary.

    Particularly recommended are:

Orbital cannons: Oribtal Railcannon Strike (Level 20)

  • The Orbital Rail Cannon Strike is an auto-targeted, very powerful attack that fires at the largest target in the area and can be used indefinitely.
  • Particularly suitable if you need to quickly get rid of a large opponent like a Hulk or a striker solo.
  • Eagle: 500KG Bomb (Level 15)

  • The 500KG Bomb is a single, truly effective bomb that can defeat even Acid Titans and destroy everything within the blast radius
  • Disadvantage: Unfortunately it only has one use per command – you then have to go back to your super destroyer to recharge
  • Gun: Rocket Gun (Level 15)

  • An automatic gun that can also damage armored enemies
  • Shoot primarily at larger enemies such as strikers or a Hulk
  • Particularly good when you need supporting fire against larger opponents
  • Can deal damage to Dropships in defense missions and, when combined with the Rocket Cannon and Mortar Cannon, is part of a strategy that allows you to quickly level up and farm XP.
  • Alternatives for the best loadout if you lack the necessary level

    Primary weapon: AR-23 Liberator

  • If you haven’t unlocked the shotgun yet, you should use the AR-23 Liberator. This is the assault rifle that you get at the start of the game.
  • The AR-23 Liberator has a solid rate of fire and good damage, making it perform better on the battlefield than some weapons you have to unlock.
  • Backpack alternative 1: “Guard Dog” rover

  • The “Guard Dog” rover is a flying, unmanned drone that attacks nearby enemies and can even eliminate them quite effectively
  • If you can’t unlock the shield generator backpack yet, the “Guard Dog” rover is a good alternative.
  • Particularly good if you are attacked by many adds. It also gives you the opportunity to focus on large enemies while the rover takes out the smaller ones.
  • Backpack alternative 2: Supply pack

  • The supply package has the obvious advantage that you can quickly stock up on ammunition without having to first request it from your ship using a button.
  • Support weapon alternative 1: Grenade launcher

  • The grenade launcher can cause good damage to larger enemies and hordes of enemies, but is especially ideal for destroying bug nests.
  • Can be refilled via ammunition supplies.
  • Support weapon alternative 2: Automatic cannon

  • The automatic cannon can penetrate even light armor with precision over longer distances, making it useful when facing many armored enemies.
  • Can easily destroy your enemies’ nests and factories
  • Disadvantage: You cannot carry a backpack with the automatic cannon, as the slot is already occupied by the included support backpack required for reloading.
  • Orbital Cannon: Orbital Laser (Level 15):

  • The orbital laser is one of the strongest orbital attacks and sizzles away all opponents within the radius of effect. Both small raiders and the armored strikers take a lot of damage. However, the laser can only be used three times.
  • Eagle: Cluster bomb

  • The cluster bomb attack does not have a strong penetration power, but it covers a fairly large radius and can therefore eliminate large numbers of small enemies
  • The cluster bomb can be used 4x per round, has a short requirement time and a comparatively short cooldown time, which can be further reduced with ship modules
  • Gun: Automatic cannon gun

  • Before you have the rocket gun, the automatic cannon gun is a good alternative that fires long-range projectiles with high penetrating power that can also penetrate the armor of strikers or ravagers.
  • If, when choosing a gun, you prefer something that can clear a lot of adds instead, the Gatling Gun is an option you can unlock early. The mortar gun is also very suitable for this, but it causes team kills very quickly and can also quickly cause your own death.
