Bert Karlsson angry at Marcus and Martinus contribution in Mello

The former Talent Jury member Bert Karlsson is not satisfied with this year’s Melodifestival. Despite the fact that Karlsson has not been involved in the competition for many years, he states for The Express that he sits down in front of the television every year.

His record company Mariann Grammofon has been behind 17 previous winning entries in Melodifestivalen, such as Carol’s “Stranger” and Herrey’s “Diggi-loo diggi-ley”. He thinks the new contributions are not as good.

– So it is evenly thick. All sound the same soon. It’s not at all the same thing lower. There is too little melody. Afterwards, you can’t stick to a single song, says Karlsson to Expressen.

But he likes an entry in Melodifestivalen 2024.

– The one with the most melody is probably the hard rockers, he says, referring to the Smash into pieces song “Heroes are calling”.

Bert Karlsson, on the other hand, is not a fan of Norwegian Marcus and Martinus who competes with the song “Unforgettable”. Even if he likes the contribution, the fact that Norwegians represent Sweden in the Melodifestivalen is “to hell”, according to Karlsson.

– It’s to hell that a Norwegian comes here and is going to win the Melodifestivalen. I think that is terrible, he says and continues:

– We compete like Sweden. This is not an international thing. We have to compete against other countries with our music. Even if they are very talented.
