During the evening, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke at a press conference together with the country’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
The prime minister spoke, among other things, about the goal of the attacks on Gaza being to destroy the terrorist group Hamas and to bring home people who have been taken hostage. According to him, the government unanimously approved an extended ground offensive.
– This is the second phase of the war, he says according to the newspaper Haaretz.
“The battle will be hard and long”
He also says that the war against Hamas is Israel’s second “war of independence”.
– During the first weeks of the war, we launched massive airstrikes which were a heavy blow to the enemy. We eliminated many terrorists. However, we are only at the beginning. The battle on the Gaza Strip will be difficult and long, he says.
– This is my life’s mission.
The defense minister says he trusts the soldiers and the Israeli defense.
– Together we will achieve victory. Right now we are preparing the entire front, says Yoav Gallant.
