Biathlon: Hanna Öberg changes shooting training for next season: “Compete in the summer”

The past biathlon season was not quite as good as Hanna Öberg had hoped. Two periods of illness, a wobbly knee and a little “edge out” on the mound were some of the things that caused it.

Ahead of next season, the focus is therefore on being whole and healthy – and on improving the shooting.

– I am motivated to do the work with the shooting to raise it further, she tells SVT Sport.

In the plan for the summer training, there are small adjustments to the weapon, which in themselves will not make a big difference. Instead, it is on the training track that Öberg hopes to reap the rewards.

“Almost better training”

– I will have a different focus on how I carry out my shooting sessions and bring even more competitive elements into the training. I think it will be a key to get more out, to get some competitive nerve during the summer.

How do you get that nerve during the training period?

– That’s where I have a big advantage of training with the team is that we can run mini-mass starts, where we really just go around the embankment. Also together with the boys and we have done that a little, but maybe too little in the last year or years, so I want to do that more, she says and adds:

– It is difficult to say now what goes into the plan, but I am more eager than before to run competitions in the summer on roller skis. It gives almost better training on shooting than on snow because you come in with a higher load, she says.

Hear Hanna Öberg about why she wants to add roller skiing competitions to the training program in the player above.
