Be careful with the popular ghost perk in CoD MW2

With Perks you get strong passive properties in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 that support your playstyle. “Ghost” has been one of the most popular and powerful perks for years – especially in combination with a silencer. In the latest CoD, however, you shouldn’t give the combo too much.

In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the first killstreak you unlock is also one of the strongest: the Recon Drone.

The modern CoD mini-map only shows you opponents when a drone is circling the sky – it used to be different. Enemies firing a gun without a silencer would also briefly show up on the small radar.

The only counter to the strong drones is the Ultimate Perk “Ghost”. This protects you from being captured by the drone. But not to the same extent as a few years ago.

Incidentally, in Warzone 1, “Ghost” deactivated if you sat in a corner for too long. However, Warzone 2.0 is coming up soon:

CoD: Warzone 2.0 is getting bigger and better – but you have to do without one thing

CoD MW2: Spirit disabled when firing a weapon

The perks work a little differently each year. Modern Warfare 2’s new perk system makes everything feel a little different anyway. Geist has also gone through many changes over the years.

Here’s what you should know about “ghost” in MW2:

  • Ghost is disabled for a few seconds when you fire a weapon
  • Playing with a silencer doesn’t change that
  • The perk has been repeatedly nerfed over the past few years, and the latest nerf pulls in silencers. Because they actually prevented “ghost” from being deactivated after firing.

Below the tweet was “TheXclusiveAce,” a CoD YouTuber who’s made a name for himself over the past few years for deep analysis of Call of Duty mechanics. Ace says this is a bug. Something similar happened with Call of Duty: Vanguard.

But bug or not, don’t rely too much on the ghost perk. The changes over the last few years have weakened the mini-map and “ghost”, while making the recon drone one of the best killstreaks.

By the way: Suppressors still help that you are not visible at the top of the enemy’s compass when firing.
