(Finance) – In the absence of interventions on the consortium banks, the 2023 report on the management of the financial endowment closed with a profit of approximately 116 million euros and assets of 4.6 billion euros (0.63% of the total assets protected deposits). Thanks to the contributions of the banks, which have amounted to approximately 8 billion euros since 2015, as of 2 July 2024 the financial endowment will be equal to approximately 5.8 billion euros (0.8% of protected deposits). In addition to this sum of 5.8 billion euros, it will be possible to obtain back up liquidity financing granted by a pool of
consortium banks for 3.5 billion euros. This is what emerged from the meeting held in Rome on Interbank Deposit Protection Fund (FITD).

Since its establishment (1987) the Fund has intervened for the solution of 16 banking crises with a total outlay of 3.3 billion euros, thus safeguarding 29 billion euros of protected deposits (up to 100 thousand euros per depositor). The voluntary scheme, in turn, carried out 5 interventions for a total of 1.3 billion euros, provided by the participating banks.

The riskiness of the consortium banks improves – The median value of the Aggregate Risk Index (IAR) drops from 37
points in 2022 to 33.6 points in 2023. The activities to strengthen the structure, risk models for monitoring the consortium banks, international cooperation, communication and public awareness continue effectively. Reflections are underway for extending the operation of the voluntary scheme also in a preliminary phase of difficulty for the bank (early intervention).
