Bad news for Amazon customers! The online commerce platform is changing its return policy for electronic products: you will only have 14 days instead of 30 to return a device that does not suit you.
One of the advantages of Amazon that has won the hearts of consumers is undoubtedly its return policy. In fact, it is possible to return items free of charge thirty days after receiving them in order to obtain a refund, either in the form of vouchers or directly to your bank account. A generous deadline, particularly useful when it comes to forming an opinion on a complex device, such as a smartphone or computer, which needs several days to evaluate in depth. However, the e-commerce giant announced on March 6, in an email sent to its sellers, that the return time for many electronic products would be drastically reduced, from thirty to fourteen days. This new rule will apply from April 25 in the United Kingdom and Europe, including France. There are, however, a few exceptions.
Amazon return deadline: some exceptions to the new rule
Questioned by the German newspaper Der Spiegel, an Amazon spokesperson confirmed these new deadlines, specifying that “the return policy and return date will continue to be clearly stated below the product price”. This includes electronic devices such as laptops, graphics cards, smartphones, game controllers, cameras, routers and accessories, which can be returned after being unpacked. On the other hand, Amazon will not be obliged to take back video games, Blu-Ray movies, music CDs and office supplies if they have already been opened, unlike other tech products. However, some products retain the privilege of a return within thirty days, such as TV Boxes, Amazon Fire tablets and e-readers, televisions as well as reconditioned devices from the Renewed range.
