When the police arrive at the address, the man is inside his home and when he comes out of the house, he is still armed with an axe.
The police then fire a warning shot but the man does not stop and a policeman is then forced to shoot the man who is hit in the leg.
The man, who is 35 years old, is now suspected of gross unlawful threats.
He is transported by ambulance to hospital.
