Nearly 200 generals were retired last June. And according to an observer, this announcement caused discontent and some concerned wrote to the authorities to denounce their situation.
In response, the Minister of Finance issued an order announcing that in addition to the monthly alimony paid by the military pension fund, family benefits, medical care support and a provision of a vehicle every four years are granted to generals.
And during the week, the Minister of the Armed Forces, Daoud Yaya Brahim, gratified these generals with additional advantages. They are now entitled to diplomatic passports, monthly fuel allocations and each of them is entitled to three bodyguards.
In the opinion of some observers, it is not enough to gratify only general, but also the other retired soldiers who pound the pavement and are sometimes gassed when they claim their unpaid pensions. According to some observers, with these additional gratuities for the generals, the transitional president would thus seek to buy peace.
