ASTM strengthens commitment in the fight against climate change

ASTM 2022 revenues exceed 33 billion thanks to traffic recovery

(Tiper Stock Exchange) – ASTMthe Italian giant of motorway networks and infrastructures, renews its commitment to its sustainability path and obtains the validation of the targets for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions defined on a scientific basis to limit global warming to 1.5°C compared to pre-existing levels -industrial, in line with the more ambitious temperature target of the Paris Agreement.

Already in 2021, ASTM formalized its commitment to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions. Today the Group renews and strengthens this commitment to demonstrate the full integration of sustainability principles in the long-term business strategy, as indicated in the 2022-2026 Sustainability Plan. The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has validated the ASTM targets which envisage the reduction of its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 54% by 2030 (baseline 2020).

ASTM Group, it will also reduce Scope 3 emissions from goods and services purchased by 11% again by 2030 (baseline 2021).

SBTi is an international initiative born from the collaboration between CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project), the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), to verify the alignment of the decarbonization of companies with the indications of the Paris Agreement. SBTi guides companies in setting ambitious climate change mitigation goals and ensures that their strategy is aligned with science-based goals.

In particular, the goal of SBTi is to enable ambitious and collective action by the private sector at scale so that the global economy can avoid the worst effects of climate change.
