A Diablo 4 monetization survey provides insights into the future

What kind of survey is this? Blizzard regularly surveys players to find out which, sometimes controversial, ideas can be used to expand the game. In the current survey that was leaked, Blizzard presents plans for expansions of different prices. Survey participants are asked which extensions they would purchase. The extensions offer different features.

Such a survey has now been leaked and discussed in detail in a video by YouTuber Bellular. An extension could cost between $50 and $100 and come with different features.

What features does Blizzard want to sell to players? According to the survey, Blizzard plans to offer players the following when purchasing a premium expansion:

  • An armor without stats, in different variations for different classes
  • A new mount that is not a horse. Can unlock new features such as new skins through in-game achievements
  • Premium Shop Currency Platinum
  • Wearable wings for all characters with animations and visual effects
  • Access to one or more Battle Passes
  • Access to the expansion before all other players
  • City Portal Skin – A unique skin for the home travel portals
  • Guide to access unique in-game items with stats
  • Additional storage expansions
  • When should this expansion start? The survey is for an expansion due out next year. Such surveys at Blizzard are usually created a year before the corresponding content is released. A lot can still happen before publication. Blizzard will certainly also look at the community opinion and wait and see how the proposed features are received. It remains to be seen whether Asmongold loses its bet.
